Agenda

iGEM recap -

Rebecca will contact them to get video to share with Indiegogo folks
Overall postive feedback and reaction to the project
Follow-ups = press release, Indiegogo update (how we did at iGEM, working on perks now, etc.)
Patrik will do an article for BioCoder - will post link to draft

Patrik: "like getting a preview of the best synthetic biology literature for the next 5 years. Amazing work by all of the finalists! "

Indiegogo Fullfillment -

   - Cheese tasting:
   Benjamin:
I will wait until after the meeting tomorrow to see if there are any developments from the meeting, but then will suggest the 17th to Jarrad (unless something different is decided tomorrow).
The cheese shop has a good vegan cheese (I know two of the four employees there), but there are many others out there. Republic of V on University in Berkeley has several others. Daiya is the best melting so I agree that we should probably get some even though it's not really fancy cheese tasting party type stuff.
   My suggestions:
S+M vegan smoked flavor (at the cheese shop or Republic of V)
One of the cheese from Miyoko's Kitchen (Rebuplic of V has this)
The Soft Ripened cheese from Kite Hill Foods (Whole Foods)
Daiya (maybe make grilled cheese with this? I wouldn't recommend this straight)
If we want more we could get something from Punk Rawk Labs (I think Republic of V has this, Rainbow Grocery in SF definitely does)
The person from north bay who everyone has been recommending. Apparently there's a vegan store on University in Berkeley that sells her stuff.
   - stickers: Marc (needs an update message/letter to go with - Maria will work on draft this week)
   - T-shirts: Rachel
Send all info on T-shirt suppliers to Rachel!

   - Biohacker lab coat
   - Molecular jewelry: Patrik
   Patrik will post the models
Patrik will check Shapeways holiday schedule
Let me know if you would love to learn and/or have some expertise
   - British Science Voiceover: Marc
   - Learn You Science: Marc
     here's the book:
     https://openstaxcollege.org/files/textbook_version/low_res_pdf/11/col11448-lr.pdf
Need to set up a store for post-IGG purchases - anyone know how?

BioCurious and CCL Memberships What would be fair to compensate the labs for use of their space? Group membership price, for people only working on RVC? 1/2 price student memberships? RVC could sponsor those who can't afford Membership reciprocity between CCL and BioC Experiment update and planning - Growth in streak plates - bovine alpha S1 and beta Waiting for plasmid extraction kit - experiment Wednesday? Read DNA concentration, submit for sequencing. Should transform bovine kappa ASAP: full length kappa hasn't been recombinantly expressed, important for our file-and-abandon patent strategy, (can do quick chymosin assay to look for cleavage --> 1 band without chymosin, 2 with, on an SDS-PAGE gel.)

   - beta and kappa are sufficient for micelle formation
   - need kappa for patent
   - easy assay for kappa band on protein gel: band should split using chymosin

Documentation systems update:

Marc made a Thing! Auto-documenting pen. Should get one for both labs. Add automatic video of experiments
   for livescribe smartpen integration
   https://github.com/CounterCultureLabs/dumpscribe

Patents -

Start writing provisional; can submit as soon as wel have results on Kappa
   Patent subgroup: Dmitri, Maria, Marc,
Talk to Dmitry Tulchinsky about patents and IP

Re engage folks who have been to meetings to grow the core group working on the project
       event like cheese tasting
Class and lab to get folks involved etc.

post-meeting TODO

  • Someone email Ben about setting up a monday evening with out-of-towners who have paid for the cheese tasting perk
  • Follow-ups = press release, Indiegogo update (how we did at iGEM, working on perks now, etc.)
  • Contact people about british science voiceover (marc)
  • need to get a supply of chymosin at BioC. Marc has lots at CCL.
  • TODO tell iGEM they really need a live stream and professional recordings of presentations next year and that the recordings should be free culture licensed
